My name is Courtney DuCharme (formerly Adams- switched
back to maiden name), my son Gideon and I run Eeyore's Ears Rabbitry #W532 in mid MI. Aside from the bunnies we also
have a pair of Boxers- Johnny & Jessie that share our home and watch over everything, D.T. (aka- Deeter)-
Gideon's Dashund/Beagle mix for amusement, 2 Manx cats- Howie & Stripe... to ruin my plants, Angel our Cockatiel- who
loves to tell us how pretty he is, some fish, and we also raise fancy rats. So we have a zoo....... We
have a "mid size" rabbitry, in which we produce the best show rabbits we can. I base my stock mainly off of body
type, however they must have good ear lenght as well to compete on the tables. I also have a fetish for uncommon
colors, so we work with them on a small scale. Our goal is to see more on the tables competing, however we do not
believe in breeding just for the color without the type. I eat ALOT of the "color" bunnies- as few measure up to MY standard.
So far most of our breeding rabbits have between 24-27" ears, and while we do feel this is very good, we are
striving for a minimum of 24" being produced with all our rabbits for correct balance as seniors. We have alot of different
colors in the barn- but they do change as we pick who stays and goes.
Wow- we added Rhinelanders
March '09!! And I'm HOOKED!!!! I really enjoy watching the running breeds on the table, but only RH's and Checkered Giants
REALLY strike me. Since I don't have room for raising CG's- I don't think I will end up with those. :) I've loved Rhinelanders
for probly at least 5 yrs and keep saying I wanted them- came close to getting them a few times- but now I have!! This
is a breed that really isn't around much anymore- and are wonderful and should be! They are not flighty like people seem
to think- they are quite laid back and personable. I will not knowingly buy, sell or give away
any rabbits with any health, temperment, or "skeletal" problems (ie: pigeon breast, deviated sternums, and
malocclusion) If I have one that is unshowable but would make a good breeder, it will be sold at a discounted
price.
Have a great day,
Courtney and Gideon.
